OpsView transition to Dynatrace on Dec. 20

December 9, 2021

On December 20, the Enterprise Monitoring service will officially decommission OpsView as part of the planned transition to Dynatrace. This concludes a yearlong initiative during which the Enterprise Monitoring team has been working with operations, networking, infrastructure, and application support teams to identify, clean-up, and migrate required monitoring from OpsView to the new full-stack solution. ITS Operations will continue to monitor systems, as they do today, but via the new Dynatrace dashboards. Please be patient, as it is assured tweaks will need to be made as teams familiarize themselves with PagerDuty alerts and notifications.

With the new Dynatrace monitoring solution, Yale has broadened its visibility of basic up/down host and hardware status to full-stack system health monitoring of applications, services, processes, and hosts. New capabilities have been introduced, such as Synthetic scripting, automated resolution, session playback, and automated integration with ServiceNow, PagerDuty, MS Teams, Slack, and email.

To support teams during this transition, we have been running Enablement Sessions every Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to noon via Zoom; An Enterprise Monitoring website is also now available to support common actions, questions, and to disseminate information. Additionally, a formal service offering is available in support of Yale’s Enterprise Monitoring Framework via Service Now for any questions or support. This can be located in Service Now using the Infrastructure & Internet and Enterprise Monitoring business service.
