Finance Internal Controls Approval Authority Training

September 22, 2021

As previously described in the May 5, 2021 Business Update, Task Force 21 was convened to spearhead the first step in developing a long-term financial training program for staff. Task Force 21’s goal was to develop and provide engaging training on foundational concepts related to internal controls and the role of the approver.

The first module,  “Internal Controls Foundational Training,” was launched on June 7, 2021, as an eLearning training module and is required to be completed by September 30, 2021, by all Lead Administrators, Operations Managers, Central Finance, including YSM Central Finance and all other approvers.

We are now excited to announce the upcoming rollout of the second module, “Finance Internal Controls Approval Authority Training,” that will be launched on October 13 and is also required for all Lead Administrators, Operations Managers, Central Finance, including YSM Central Finance and all other approvers. It will be conducted in a 90-minute live session via Zoom on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 2:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 10:30 a.m.
  • Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 2:30 p.m.

At the end of the training, participants will be required to pass a 10-question quiz to complete the course successfully. In the coming days, an email will be sent out to those whose current roles require them to complete the training with instructions on how to register for the course.

If you have already completed this training as part of the Task Force 21 Pilot, you will not be required to retake this training.

Questions on this initiative can be directed to either of the co-leads of Task Force 21: Pauline Fagan or Karen Harris.
