Below is a summary of university-wide news and workplace information for you to reinforce with your teams during staff meetings or via email updates:

The Annual Performance Review Cycle
All employees have begun to complete and send in to managers their self-assessments and a list of clients or colleagues to contact for feedback about their work. Please take a moment to review the performance management timeline so you can take the necessary actions according to the schedule. Reminders will be posted in Workday during the performance management cycle. Staff performance ratings and salaries for FY23 will be available in Workday on July 29. Please consult the Performance Management web page, which has a wealth of information, resources, and forms for guidance.

Update on Work arrangements
On April 26, Jack Callahan Jr., senior vice president for Operations, and John Whelan, vice president for Human Resources, sent this message to the Yale community to update them about the university’s policy on work arrangements based on its “strategy of ‘excellence with flexibility’ broadens the employment offering at Yale, consistent with the new and evolving work environment in our community and nation.

Healthy Yale
A message on April 22 from Yale’s COVID-19 Coordinator, Stephanie Spangler, addressed this—“More on masks, mandates, and public transportation; updates on campus infection trends and a new reporting format.” Read Healthy Yale message.

Managing at Yale series Cohort H starts July 11, 2022
Managing at Yale, is more than a training curriculum. It sets in motion the fundamentals needed to support a work culture that values diverse experiences and points of view—and thrives on respect and collaboration. Through interactive and engaging presentations, real-life scenarios, and peer interactivity, you will learn about leadership principles, labor relations, diversity and inclusiveness, and much more. The first three courses –Essentials, Great Manager and Managing for Results–cover Ethics, Emotional Intelligence, Labor Relations, HR to Diversity & Inclusion, DiSC, how to effectively manage both yourself and your team, and the 5 Behaviors of a Cohesive Team. Each online course runs for 5-6 weeks with 7-8 week breaks in between. The last two courses, Extraordinary Leader and Advancing the Extraordinary Leader, are delivered in-person and provide insight through a 360-degree leadership assessment, development plan, and coach, to further develop your managerial and leadership skills.
