Request a Congruency Review for JIT

Just-In-Time or JIT requests come from NIH when a proposal has an impact score of 40 or less. This JIT notification does not indicate that the proposal will be funded, only that NIH is requesting JIT documentation. Part of the documentation needed for proposals involving animal work is the IACUC congruency approval letter. Note that an IACUC protocol approval letter, a protocol modification approval letter, or an annual protocol approval letter are NOT acceptable IACUC documents to be used for the JIT submission to NIH.  Acceptable IACUC documentation for JIT can only be supplied by DoRC.

When you receive a JIT notice, please email the following information to the DoRC email address dorc@yale.edu:

  1. Grant title
  2. PI of Grant
  3. Granting agency
  4. Agency award number, if applicable
  5. IRES record number (Grants and Contracts database number), if known
  6. PI of protocol(s) and protocol number(s)
  7. Due date for the JIT, if applicable
  8. Likelihood of funding
  9. Do you intend to supply JIT documentation?

Please note:

On April 20, 2012, NIH changed the impact score for submitting JIT information from 25 to 40. This means that PIs will be receiving more JIT requests for proposals that will ultimately not be funded.  It is up to the individual PI in conjunction with his/her business office to determine whether or not to supply JIT documents. If you decide not to supply JIT documentation, please inform DoRC at dorc@yale.edu.
