Historically, Yale has had to lock between 20 and 40 NetIDs every month because they were compromised. Net IDs are usually compromised in one of two ways:
John opened the meeting by acknowledging that the semester was winding down, with the undergraduates having moved out and final exams concluding. Overall, he felt that the semester was successful, including the achievement of the university’s operational goals as well as a very low infection rate. IT staff contributed many advances to online learning, work from home initiatives, and supporting public health measures during this time.

Long Range Planning (LRP) Update
When John Barden joined the organization in 2017, the University was seeking a strategic model for IT services and support. In partnership with IT colleagues, the FY2018-2022 strategy was developed, with three “strategic anchors” driving this work: One IT at Yale, Service Quality, and Workplace of Choice.
Ensuring that staff feel safe while working and traveling between buildings at Science Park is a key priority for Yale—particularly CIO John Barden and CFO Steve Murphy who spearheaded, and recently received approval for, an updated public safety plan for Science Park. Preliminary work is underway, with the official roll-out scheduled for early February, at the start of the spring semester.
Research labs at the Yale School of Medicine (YSM) faced a challenge — they needed to consume complex integrated informatics and information technologies to become more efficient. Without proper IT support, it was likely that they would implement solutions that do not meet their needs—potentially wasting time and money. A model for supporting research labs at YSM was needed. As a key supporter of medical researchers at Yale, IT was positioned to assist them.
The Yale School of Management (SOM) Development and Alumni Relations Office has been collaborating with ITS since January 2020 on a digital experience discovery project focused on understanding the needs of SOM alumni and what it is they are looking for from a digital experience with the school. The SOM team reached out to ITS for support as they are looking for a new platform that will simplify the SOM alumni user experience enabling alumni to more easily connect and engage with the school.
The Student & Academic Support Systems (SASS) team has supported automated, custom admissions data integrations for Yale College, the Graduate School, and all the professional schools for about a decade. These admissions departments utilize vendors like Common Application, Slate, WebAdmit, AMP, AMCAS, CASPA, SOPHAS, and more to collect admissions applications, make admissions decisions, and finally export data into Banner. Custom Banner data integrations have been developed over many years for different schools, with different data requirements, and different file type layouts.
IT’s Salesforce Applications & Support team partnered with Yale Health to deliver a custom contact tracing, isolation, and quarantine tracking application for Yale Health plan members, including students, faculty, staff, dependents, and other members of our University community.
