The Value of Active Listening

Active listening (also known as mindful, empathetic or reflective listening) is powerful. To tap into its potential, pause regularly during the conversation and to ask yourself these questions:

  • Attitude – are you approaching the conversation with an open mind?
  • Attention – are you giving your employee your undivided attention?
  • Adjustment – are you flexible and able to adjust to where the conversation leads?
